We headed over to Chelan for Shane's teams basketball tournament over the break. My parents rented a condo right on the lake. I once again didn't get my camera out much but got a few pictures of our trip. Cuddle time with Dad before the game. On some of the down time the team went up to Echo Valley to go sledding. They had a really cool area set up for sledding with tubes and everything.
This year it was 3 straight days of Christmas celebrations that we all pretty low key, except for 1 but we hadn't planned on it being low key. The 23rd we hosted a Santa party with a bunch of friends and my Dad dressed up as Santa for the 19 kids we had. Mostly 4 and under with a few older ones. I of course didn't use my camera for the party and am getting the pictures from my Mom so I don't have much to post from that night. On Christmas Eve, Shane and my Mom went skiing. I told them I am retired for now from the sport maybe I will break out of my retirement next year. Kendall and I headed down to my parents in the afternoon to hang out with my Grandma and Dad then we had a prime rib dinner with Kyle and Michelle too. Kendall got some fun things and Shane and I got lots of yard stuff including a weed eater which we have been putting off buying. Once again for it being Kendall's 1st Christmas I get a D grade with my camera efforts. Christmas morning we spent at our house with our family of 3. Kendall was pretty excited when she woke up in the middle of the night and saw her new scooter sitting by the tree (yes, she still doesn't sleep through the night). I had to have Shane move it so she couldn't see it so she would drink her bottle and go back to bed. Shane's parents came over for brunch. Then we headed back over to their house that evening for a nice low key family dinner with Erin and Derek. This year with Shane's parents and sister we adopted a family of 4 and bought them some things they needed instead of exchanging gifts. It feels so good to be able to do that for other families in need and they are always so grateful.
Dad gives me a bath while Mom is at the store. He thinks he knows how to comb my hair to make me look pretty. We are all ready for Christmas but there are not any presents underneath the tree. Kendall likes the bows! We are excited to be hosting a Christmas party tonight with friends and lots of kids. I will post pictures soon.
Shane and I were both so ready for our 2 weeks off of school and probably something we take for granted at times. We love our jobs and are so lucky for the breaks we get during the different times of the year. We started out the break by working all day Friday, going to Shane's basketball game in Anacortes Friday night, then heading to Longview (where we arrived at 1:00a.m.) for our friends Dominic and Lisa's wedding. Shane was in the wedding on Saturday. We left Kendall with my parents for the weekend (my 1st time leaving her for 2 nights) and it was a nice break. I didn't do a very good job taking pictures but the wedding was awesome and so well put together. We are so excited for them and can't wait to go see their new house in Portland this spring. Yesterday was our 1st official day of break because we were able to be home. The weather has been so cold which I don't like but at least yesterday we got some pretty snow for about a half hour. I finished my Christmas shopping, which is always a relief and then Shane's team had a game last night which they won in overtime!
Shane basketball season is here which makes our lives change for a few months. He is a little more stressed at times and I am home by myself more often (but now I have Kendall to hang out with). We haven't missed a game, though we have missed minutes from games due to Kendall getting wiggly in the stands so we go out in the hallway to let her crawl around or walk her in her jogger. She has been doing pretty well so far even though the games start at 7:30 and she is usually going to bed at that time if we are home. We head to Chelan for a tournament after Christmas. Here are some pictures of her at halftime crawling around on the court.
Kendall had her 9 month check-up the day before Thanksgiving. She weighed 23 lbs. 10 oz. and was 30 inches long. She is now on the MOVE from room to room in the house and getting into things that aren't put up high enough out of her reach. She got her 3rd tooth last week too. One of the top fangs (I am not sure of the exact name for it). Here are some more pictures that Rachel took...I decided not to wait on all of them.
